Boulder Housing Partners provides affordable dwelling units in Boulder through acquisition of existing units, construction of new units, and land banking.
BHP's acquisition program seeks to purchase existing homes that are for sale throughout the Boulder community. Each year we seek to purchase 30 housing units, in the form of apartments, townhouses or and condominiums. Once purchased, we rent these homes to people at prices that are lower than usual for Boulder.
These purchases become part of BHP's Reduced Rent Program. In this program, rent is set at a specific amount for each housing unit. Interested persons apply to rent a unit by providing proof of their income. Once it has been accepted that their incomes are within range for that particular unit, they are eligible to sign a lease agreement.
Targeted purchase of existing units allows permanently affordable housing to be spread throughout the city. And, it allows partnerships to be formed between Boulder Housing Partners and service providers, leveraging the skills and resources of both enterprises.
