Red Oak Park Grand Opening
Red Oak Park, the newest affordable housing community in Boulder, celebrated its grand opening, August 10, 2011, at the community center, 3025 Littleleaf Lane, in Boulder. Previously known as Boulder Mobile Manor, Red Oak Park has 59 new single family, duplex, and triplex rental homes in a neighborhood-oriented setting that is close to bike lanes and bus routes, has a community center for youth programs and neighborhood events, and a playground for young families.
"This neighborhood combines the City of Boulder's goals of community, sustainability, and affordability," said Betsey Martens, executive director for Boulder Housing Partners. "We have 58 families currently living here and already have an extensive waiting list for our Boulder Affordable Rentals."
Red Oak Park has many "green" energy efficient features to help reduce utility costs for the residents, which include highly efficient walls and windows, efficient heating and cooling systems, and ENERGY STAR appliances.
"Red Oak Park is a model for future redevelopment projects," said Suzy Ageton, a member of the Boulder Housing Partners Board of Commissioners and a member of the Boulder City Council. "Creating this wonderful environment from an aging mobile home park has enhanced many lives, provided affordable housing, and increased property values."
"Red Oak is a tremendous project for the community," said Tom Spilman, President of KeyBank in Colorado. Through its Community Development Banking group, KeyBank provided $9.5 million in financing through construction and permanent debt to help finance the project. "This project is going to really make a difference for its residents and we're proud to work with Boulder Housing Partners."
All the units are classified as 100% affordable, with rents approximately 20 to 50% less than similar units in Boulder. City of Boulder residents earning up to 50% of the area median income are eligible to apply to rent at this site through the Boulder Affordable Rentals program at Boulder Housing Partners
