Foothills Community

Foothills Community is the first permanently affordable mixed income rental housing project in Boulder that demonstrated the effectiveness and vision of New Urban design principles. It was built in 2002 with low income housing tax credits and public and private grants. Of the 75 homes, 52 are permanently affordable and the remaining 22 market rate homes are scattered throughout the site.

Additionally, a HUD Section 811 grant funded the design, construction and operation of a group home for eight elderly low income developmentally disabled adults. The success of the Foothills Community is a result of a strong collaboration with City of Boulder staff, local residents, activist groups, architects, lenders, and contractors.
