Broadway Updates

Broadway East Rehabilitation:
Rehabilitation of 44 of the existing Broadway Apartments is rapidly approaching. BHP worked with the families living at Broadway to help them find either temporary or permanent housing within BHP's own housing or in the larger community while rehabilitation takes place. Many of the current Broadway residents are interested in returning to the newly-remodeled units. All major funding sources have been approved financing for the rehabilitation, which will include:

New windows
New doors
New siding
New bathrooms
New kitchens
New landscaping
New heating and ventilation systems
Reconfigured parking

Final building specifications and design plans are nearly finished and construction is scheduled to begin early Summer 2007.

BHP hosts neighborhood meeting on January 4, 2007

A meeting between BHP staff and residents of the neighborhood surrounding the Broadway Apartments took place at the North Boulder Rec Center on January 4, 2007, facilitated by Kon Damas from the City of Boulder. To read neighbor comments and other notes from this meeting, please (click here).

Broadway West:
According to requests made by the City of Boulder's Planning and Development Services staff, plans for the 26 new affordable apartments to be built on the site of BHP's former offices at 3120 Broadway were substantially redesigned during 2007. Changes to the design included stepped-back building corners, increased fa ade variation, realigning the lobby for more permeability by adding windows in the front and back. All changes to the design reduce the visual size and impact of the building from the street and from neighboring properties while keeping the same number of affordable units.
